Humble Beginnings

In 2006, after completing his GCSE O-Levels, he left school and began working as a butcher at a Keels Super Market branch. His goal was to earn money to kick start his music career and support his single mother. His father had passed away when he was just 8, leaving his mother as the sole provider. Determined not to burden her any longer, he sought to both contribute financially and pursue his dreams.

During this time, he began learning about music and record labels, and established Urban Records on social media. This became the first record label to connect artists worldwide, collaborating on songs and projects.

In 2007, he recognized that his current job was stunting his growth, lacking opportunities for learning, increased earnings, or advancement. Consequently, he chose to seek a new role within the entertainment industry.

He secured a position at Royal Arts Advertising, a leading advertising and video company specializing in wedding videography and photography, as well as software development for the wedding photo and video sector. This role presented him with valuable opportunities to learn and earn, encompassing various aspects of video production and photography.

Since founding Urban Records as a sole proprietorship, he has collaborated with artists, musicians, and entertainment icons both locally and internationally.

In 2009, he released his debut single, “Sinasemin,” featuring Kosala Dilrukshi. He composed the song, with arrangements and music by Amila Gunasekara (Aj Legazy) and production by Arunan Logeswaran.

In 2011, He followed up with his second single, “Hope,” created with his schoolmate Jude Praveen and his sister Kauchi K. This track was inspired by a cricket sensation in Sri Lanka and received positive feedback from local radio stations and social media.

Following that release, he realized the need to earn more to pursue his passion for music and music videos professionally. Seeking opportunities, he found a position at a US-based BPO in Sri Lanka, working as a sales and customer care agent, which enabled him to finance his music video projects.
